Joseph W.B. Johnson of Ghana
The LORD was preparing the way in black Africa long before the 1978 Revelation!
ONe of the first black Africans to receive the Priesthood after the 1978 Revelation was Joseph W.B. Johnson of Ghana. In 1964 a black physician gave him a copy of The Book of Mormon. Johnson was a Seeker of Truth, and studied all religions in his search for truth. He later described what happened after he had read and prayed about The Book of Mormon:
"One early morning about 5:30 am, while about to prepare for my daily work, I saw the heavens open and angels with trumpets singing songs of praise unto God...In that course of this I heard my name mentioned thrice, 'Johnson, Johnson, Johnson. If you will take up my work as I command you, I will bless you and your land.' Trembling and in tears, I replied, 'Lord, with Thy help I will do whatever you will command me.' From that day onward, I was constrained by that Spirit to go from street to street...to deliver the message which we read from The Book of Mormon...I did exactly as the Lord commanded me...and immediately our persecution started." (Joseph W.B. Johnson: Ghana's Face of Light, p.3)

From that time until 1978 Joseph W.B. Johnson preached from street to street and from door to door from The Book of Mormon, without purse or script, and he coverted over 14,000 Ghanaians; often suffering great opposition and persecution. He was asked many times by black Ghananians, "How can you belong to a Church that thinks black Africans are cursed?" Joseph would reply simply, "What can I do? I KNOW the Church is true, for the LORD Himself has told me so!?!"
In 2004 Joseph W.B. Johnson became a Patriarch in the Church; a man who bestows prophetic blessings upon Members by the voice of prophecy.
Mormons would not call Joseph W.B. Johnson a "Prophet" because that title is reserved for the President of the Church. However, he might be called a "Seer". And Patriarchs certainly use the Spirit of Prophecy to bless Members! Joseph Smith was called "Joseph the Seer" before he received the priesthood in 1829 and before the Church was founded in 1830.

Tää on vain lähetyskenttä luku:
Ghana Cape Coast Mission

The Ghana Cape Coast Mission was created from countries previously covered by the Ivory Coast Abidjan Mission. The new mission includes Togo, Benin, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, and the western half of Ghana. The Ghana Cape Coast Mission includes 13,590 members of the Cape Coast Ghana, Kumasi Ghana, and Takoradi Ghana Stakes and the districts of Assin Foso Ghana and Swedru Ghana. Lindsay Thomas Dil, originally called earlier this year to begin serving as the mission president of the Ivory Coast Abidjan Mission on July 1, 2005, has been reassigned as the mission’s new president.

The Ivory Coast Abidjan Mission’s new president is Norbert Kalogo Ounleu. This mission now includes only the Ivory Coast and the Church’s 9,149 members in the Abidjan and Abobo stakes.

The creation of the new mission also affects the boundaries for the Ghana Accra Mission. The Ghana Accra Mission now covers the countries of Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the eastern half of Ghana. The realigned boundaries include 19,151 members in the Accra Ghana Christiansborg, Accra Ghana Lartebiokorshie, Monrovia Liberia Stakes, and the Abomosu Ghana, Koforidua Ghana, Bo Sierra Leone, and Freetown Sierra Leone Districts.

On June 14, 1989, Ghana's government expelled the missionaries and banned the Church. Members were permitted to hold services in the privacy of their homes, however. Eighteen months later the government expressed satisfaction that the Church teaches members to be obedient to government laws and promotes racial harmony, and on December 1, 1990, Ghana permitted Church activities to resume. By the end of 1990, membership was more than 9,000.

In 1998, Church President Gordon B. Hinckley met with Ghana's Head of State, Mr. Rawlings, who apologized for the action taken by the government in 1989. President Hinckley informed Mr. Rawlings that the Church would build its first temple in West Africa in the capital city of Accra. He also met with thousands of members in Accra and announced the plans to build the temple.

Tulin vielä lisäämään tämän, kun selailin noita statistiikkasivuja lisää, että Nigeriassa lienee voidaan jo puhua vähän isommastakin pienestä menestystarinasta; siellä jäseniä 88 374
http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/contact-us/nigeria
